The Wedding invite
“You have got to be kidding me” Adam groaned when he saw the text from Fawzia. She’d previously told him she’d get him an invite to her wedding with Tariq. He met the guy once, he liked him. Now she was telling him that her parents were forbidding her from inviting any men or non-Muslims? Adam and Fawzia went way back, or at least to high school. Freshman year. Her family had just moved over from Jordan. She didn’t want to talk to anyone to start with but eventually started opening up to Adam and a few of the girls at school. Her parents didn’t want her interacting with non-Muslim students…but she was the only Muslim in the school year, what was she meant to do? The answer, turned out to be…to rebel. Sneak out of the house, have Western clothes bought for her that she could stash in her wardrobe…they all took turns to meet up with her, show her what American life was meant to be like. Adam was the only boy in that little group and if he was honest, he’d had a bit of a crush on her
